When you open the wooden doors, you are instantly immersed in the white décor, wood elements, warm lighting and relaxing ambiance. “Paper planes are part of everyone’s childhood memories, wonderful memories of our innocence,” the manager of Paper Plane Hair, Benny said. Despite being a man of few words, Benny is rarely seen without a smile on his face. Back in the days, Benny traveled to England where he learned his hairdressing techniques. His experience living abroad broadened his horizons and showed him the importance of keeping up with global news and trends.

At Paper Plane, customers can choose from a variety of Japanese and Korean fashion and beauty magazines. Lying among the stack of magazines is The Affairs, a magazine not known to many, with the headline “Iceland is bracing for a world without ice” plastered across the cover. It’s not the type of magazine you would imaging finding at a hair salon.

Paper Plane Hair found O’right in 2018 and has since then become a part of the O’right family. The oil painting of O’right Green Headquarters brings out its natural beauty and harmonic nature, allowing customers who visit this green salon to see where exactly the green products come from and are made. She wishes to influence others with the natural and pure beauty of O’right and in turn bring out the most beautiful self of customers and the earth. Did you know that planting one more tree on earth can help reduce 11 kg of carbon dioxide each year? For instance, trees curb climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere; they filter air, store carbon and improve soil fertility. The Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan describes wood as a storeroom for carbon dioxide; as long as it’s not incinerated or decaying, carbon can be stored in there for a long period of time. The connection between the woods and nature help maintain a balanced ecosystem and the environment we live in is linked to nature. That is why a sustainable future is only possible if we protect the trees the same way they protect us.

In April of 2019, O’right’s team in China made arrived at a village in Wenzhou to begin their journey of planting seeds of hope. A city in Zhejiang province surrounded by the East China Sea, Wenzhou is rich in natural resources and is considered the cradle of Chinese civilization due to its long history. It is also the home to many Chinese bayberry trees, which are known for its high economic and medicinal values.

Wenzhou has had more than 500 years growing Chinese bayberry, the main source of income for local farmers. Chinese bayberry forms nitrogen-fixing nodules on their roots following actinomycete infection. The O’right team of China specifically chose Wenzhou as their destination to plant trees, reduce carbon and protect our forests.

Marking their 6^th year organizing the tree planting project, O’right’s China distributors have managed to reach more green salons and communities and make a bigger impact in China. This year is also the first time salons from Jiangsu showed their support and participated in the event, making us more determined on our belief that small steps can make changes to the environment.

In 2018, we became a zero carbon certified organization with zero carbon products, which greatly motivates our green partners to move towards achieving zero impact. They enthusiastically picked up their tools and started planting seeds in the soil, creating a comfortable and safe home for trees like the one we would like to create for the world. “Planting trees for our future generations is our duty and responsibility. We hope that our efforts, albeit small, can turn into something bigger and make a greener difference,” one of our green partners happily said.

Lena Hair Salon has evolved into a network of three salon branches and one hair academy in Suzhou since it was founded in 2015. Anchored by their core values, Lena Hair Salon strives to provide green services to customers with green hair products and healthy living concepts that not only make them feel beautiful and confident, but also reflect the beauty of Suzhou. 

The mastermind behind Lena Hair Salon, Sky had worked in Taiwan for ten years, during which he came across O’right and was instantly impressed by our unique bottle design. Feeling in line with our green values, he decided to stock and sell our natural products in his salon to give customers a green experience.

“O’right taught us many things, and one of the most valuable is the importance and benefits of reuse,” Sky said. Lena Hair Salon never knew that even hair product ingredients can be sustainable, until they met our best sellers, Caffeine Botanical Scalp Revitalizer and Caffeine Shampoo. Formulated with natural caffeine extracted from discarded coffee husks and contained in a biodegradable bottle made from recycled coffee grounds, the Caffeine products not only benefit customer’s hair and scalp, but also ensure that the circular economy we are striving to achieve is truly sustainable. Inspired by this, Sky sprinkles used coffee grounds in the soil of plants in the balcony, where customers can enjoy the rich aroma of coffee beans. Inside, empty O’right shampoo bottles are used as decorations to enhance the aesthetics of the salon.

“We don’t only transform hairstyles into works of art with our hands, but also give new life to old goods,” said June Ng, owner of O’right De Tags Hair Salon located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. His love for beautiful things led him to the world of hair and beauty, and also introduced him to sustainable living. In 2014, June fell in love with O’right’s green values, award-winning natural products, sustainable practices incorporated in every aspect and the green lifestyle we so wholeheartedly promote.

“It’s intriguing how beautiful things attract attention with such ease,” June mused. Displayed in June’s salon are empty O’right product bottles that June turned into extraordinary pieces of art. His creative mind was inspired by his desire to not cause unwanted waste. June jokes that the first thing regular customers do when they visit his salon isn’t to discuss what kind of hairstyle they want, but to look around to find if there are any new artworks. He believes that this is a great opportunity to share his thoughts and stress the importance of reusing resources and adopting a sustainable lifestyle. When hairdressers and customers get together for an appointment, their interaction can go beyond the service itself; they should be able to have friendly conversations that don’t evolve around hairstyles. June’s knack for creativity inspires customers to collect empty O’right bottles and bring them to June for him to use his magical hands and turn them into one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

At first, O’Love Chair was just an interesting-looking piece of furniture in consumers’ eyes. It took some time, but eventually they understood the significant value of the extraordinary design by feeling the texture with their hands or sitting on the chair.
